Ivy Terrace is a serene retreat venue for small groups, located within walking distance of beautiful downtown Saluda. Groups enjoy access to our seven ensuite bedrooms and other nearby rental options, cozy gathering areas, and our private conference cottage. We also provide delicious and wholesome plant-based meals.
Ivy Terrace is managed by innkeeper Kim Campbell. Renowned in her field, Kim is a three-time cookbook author, product developer, and culinary educator. She is supported by her filmmaker husband, Nelson, whose movies you can find on Amazon Prime and Apple TV (PlantPure Nation) and on YouTube (From Food to Freedom).

Ivy Terrace was built around 1890 by a Charleston sea captain. This beautiful home includes a living room anchored by a large stone fireplace, with front and back porches, and a beautiful dining room serviced by a commercial kitchen, where Chef Kim works her magic.
And just steps from the main house, the conference cottage provides a flexible retreat space. It can be set up for workshops, classes, yoga, or group discussions, and comfortably accommodates your group.
All our meals are plant-based but made to satisfy even the most traditional taste buds. Chef Kim is known for her expertise in making healthy and delicious comfort foods that mimic the flavors and textures recognizable to mainstream eaters.
Chef Kim is a nationally regarded chef, three-time cookbook author, and culinary educator, who has developed a ‘comfort-food’ style of plant-based cooking.
Our guests wake up to an early hot coffee and assortment of sweet breads, followed by a gourmet breakfast. Lunches and dinners feature delicious entrees accompanied by sides, all in a culinary style appealing to mainstream eaters. We can even provide evening desserts.
Retreat groups can enjoy nourishing, plant-based meals tailored to their schedule. Chef Kim crafts menus that bring comfort, health, and flavor to your group’s stay, and she is happy to share with incoming event hosts her menu, providing options to choose from.
Everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay
Built around 1890 by Charleston sea-captain William Hinson, Ivy Terrace quickly became one of Saluda’s premiere summer homes, perched on leafy Shand Hill just a short stroll from today’s downtown.
During the railroad-era tourism boom the Clippard family enlarged the house and, through the 1930s-40s, welcomed guests as a boarding inn. After nearly a century of hospitality, the property was lovingly restored between 1991-1993 by Herbert and Diane McGuire.
Today guests can relax in this historic sanctuary and savor wholesome plant-based meals, experiencing the same restorative mountain spirit that has drawn visitors here for more than 130 years.
Outside, Ivy Terrace is a living arboretum. Eight landmark trees – including two China Firs over 130 years old – are listed on the Pacolet Area Conservancy’s Treasured Tree register, while shaded garden paths weave past two burbling water features around the house, and down to Main Street below.
